Some day we will dine at Quince in San Francisco, and at its more rustic younger sibling and next door neighbor, Cotogna.  In the meanwhile, we will trust the  recommendations of Chef Michael Tusk, the 2011 James Beard Best Chef, Pacific winner, on these best-in-class sub-dried tomatoes. The Colosseum is falling!
Actually, it was only a small piece of rock that, apparently, a pigeon dislodged.  That section of the Colosseum is set to undergo renovation, sponsored by Diego Della Valle of the Italian leather goods company, Tod’s.  Fortunately, the gladiators have it under control for the time being.  Read more in Italian, or English.

The producers of the renowned Super Tuscan Ornellaia wine have created a new website with not just gorgeous photography, but also informative content such as wine ratings and auction values, and interactive features including a wine locator tool, live webcam of the vineyards, and an online reservation system to book a visit to the estate online.

Download the Eat Rome iPad or iPhone app before your trip. Rome resident and accomplished travel and food writer Elizabeth Minchinelli has compiled a list of her favorite Roman ristoranti, pizzerie, osterie, gelaterie, and more in an easy to use app.  Most listings are located in the historical center, making it a helpful resource for visitors wanting to avoid the tourist traps in favor of authentic Roman cuisine.
